Credited to the XDA mobile software development community, Odin is a handy tool that can be used to flash and root your Android-powered mobile. So if your service provider will not release an update for your phone, you can use Odin to install a newer Android version on your mobile.

To get started with Odin you must download an archive, extract its contents, and then run the Odin executable. That is all you have to do. You don’t have to go through any lengthy, time-consuming installation process. You just have to download an archive and run an executable. It must be mentioned here that you will need admin rights to run Odin.

If you can figure out the interface on your own, that’s great. If you can’t figure it out, then I am sad to say that there’s no Help file to turn to. Odin does not come bundled with any Help file. The good news though is that you can look for such info online. Tutorials on how to use Odin are readily available online.

As mentioned above, Odin is a tool that can be used to flash and root your Android-powered mobile device – smartphone or tablet. A word of caution though: don’t use this tool unless you know what you’re doing! The danger of bricking your phone is very real. It is true that you can root your Android and update your Android’s firmware with Odin. But if you don’t know what you’re doing, you could end up bricking your expensive phone or tablet.

Odin is free software. You do not have to part with your hard earned money to use this application.

Odin is particularly useful if your mobile operator will not release firmware updates for your phone. You can use Odin to root your Android and update its firmware.

Pros

You don’t have to go through any lengthy, time-consuming installation process; just download an archive and run an executable. The interface is practical. Odin is a tool that can be used to flash and root your Android-powered mobile device. Odin is free software.

Cons

There’s no Help file (but you will find help online). If you don’t know what you’re doing, you could brick your phone.
